Let’s Go Digital Hiking! 30 Stunning Photos from Thailand

by Corbett

If you’re like me, you probably suffer from that pesky little condition of not being able to be in two places at the same time. You might also contend with that other common problem known as having a j-o-b.

In either case, I have a quick solution that will let you visit an exotic destination from the comfort of your laptop. I call it digital hiking (thanks to Nikki und Michi for inspiring the term in a recent comment).

For the next few minutes, let these 30 stunning photos from Thailand help you escape from whatever work or freezing weather conditions you might be dealing with at the moment.

These photos are all shared under the fantastic Creative Commons license, which means you can use them under certain conditions (usually attribution is required) like I have here. Flickr is full of thousands of more inspiring photos just like these licensed under CC.

Enjoy the hike! Let me know which photos you like most in the comments.

Timely post and beautiful photos! I’m a big fan of Thailand..such a lovely country! Only 8 (long) weeks and I’m off to Thailand for 2 weeks.. can’t wait :) Will check some of those places out for sure!

Where to in Thailand, Juha?

Took a straight flight to Krabi so we’ll be spending our first nights in Ao Nang. From there probably to Ko Lanta. Ko Samui-Ko Phangan-Ko Tao would also be a great triplet to visit, but we’ll go there is there’s time (we don’t want to rush.. after all, it’s a vacation)

My personal plan is to Climb at Railey, Dive at Lanta and just totally chill out the rest of the time! Won’t get better than that :)

Ah, really vibrant, beautiful selection, Corbett.

I’m leaving Buenos Aires for Lima today, and I just got inspired to snap a whole lot of photos on the 72 hour journey there. Thanks!

Cheers, Colin. Enjoy Peru. I’ve never been.

Stunning collection of pictures put together.
I really love the one of the rock climber looking down. That exact scene never ceases to freak me out. I also love the fireworks over Chiang Mai!

Yeah, I assumed that guy was rappelling down the rock. It’s freaky either way.

What a great idea! I love the selection of photos, especially the buddha. Now what to do about that pesky situation?

Good question. Let us know what you come up with.

Stunning photos! I particularly like the Island Paradise and the Butang Islands photos, although all of them are quite beautiful.

It must be amazing to live in a place like that. I wonder if the locals think that way, too?

Living in Canada, we have some stunning scenery as well – it’s covered in snow for a far bit of the time, though :-)

I’m guessing Thai locals think of their scenery the same way you do in Canada. Sometimes you have to get away to fully appreciate it.

Great term and great photos! I felt my frozen bod thaw a bit looking at these! Thanks Corbett. :)

Absolutely stunning stuff there. Thanks so much for posting this. I’m sitting here in my cold little home office really dreading taking my dog out for a walk, and these made me feel quite happy.

gorgeous gorgeous stuff! I love the one of the rice patties but all are beautiful! Makes me miss Thailand!

Digital hiking is a new term for me, but it sure is a great way to travel. Loved seeing those gorgeous pictures on a rainy, gray day here in Seattle. And it makes me excited for our own eventual trip to Thailand. Thanks for the 5-minute vacation!

January in Seattle can be especially hard to get through. Hang in there!

Amazing photos! I am leaving for a trip to Thailand for 10 days tomorrow! It is my first trip there. I particularly liked the photos of the rock climber’s perspective and the “sea nymph!”

Awesome! Great timing. Let us know if the photos do the real scenery justice.

Broke my heart a little on this cold, snowy day in Chicago. But in a good way.

Beautiful photos that really capture the many facets of Thailand. The rock climber is pretty intense and I love the stationary scooters. You don’t often see them not in motion!

I have digitally inserted myself into “island paradise.” ahhhhhhh.

These are the kind of images that inspire me to do more with my life and visit as many beautiful places as possible.

Absolutely breathtaking images from a beautiful country. Just watch out for the ladyboys (not that I have any knowledge on that matter!).

I need to travel more.

Wow these are incredible! I’m going to Thailand in May for my first time. Airfare to BKK is booked, but nothing else, so I’ll check out some of these locales. My two faves are the first one of the abseiling (I’ve done it before and can’t wait to do it again!) and the Sea of Siam Sunset.

Thanks for sharing Corbett.

Love the photos. Since I have come into the lifestyle design niche, I can see why so many designers are attracted to Thailand. This along with the standard of living seem to be big attractors.

Looks like I gotta schedule a month long visit to Thailand here for around May-June.

Great photos. Next time I go to Thailand I must go to Phuket. I go to Thailand 3-4 times a year but usually busy at the embassy.

I really like the Princess Cave photo.

Do they have to be HDR in order to make it into your photo posts? Corbett, that’s my beach you keep posting photos of! Why don’t you come out here, or at least use some of my photos next time! :)

I tried on this post not to use too many HDRs. I don’t have a preference, as long as they tell a story and delight the eyes. I’ll definitely use your photos, and a visit to Thailand sounds great next year. Thanks!
